Frequently Asked Questions

What is Positive Behaviour Support?

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is an evidence-based framework used by NDIS practitioners to understand and address behaviours of concern. Rather than simply managing symptoms, PBS focuses on identifying the underlying causes of behaviour and teaching new skills, coping strategies, and replacement behaviours. This approach is better positioned to support lasting, meaningful change.

NDIS participants who exhibit behaviours of concern, such as aggression, self-injury, property destruction, or other behaviours that impact quality of life, may be eligible for Behaviour Support funding. This is typically funded under Capacity Building – Improved Relationships in a participant’s NDIS plan. A Support Coordinator can help determine eligibility and ensure the right funding is in place.

We pride ourselves on our rapid onboarding. Once a referral is received, our team will contact you within 24 hours. Services typically commence within days, not months. We understand that families and participants often cannot afford to wait, and we make getting started as simple as possible.

Yes. Liberty Behavioural Services operates nationally, with practitioners located across metropolitan, regional, and rural areas in different states and territories. We also offer telehealth services where in-person visits are not possible, ensuring no participant misses out on the support they need.

A Behaviour Support Plan (BSP) is a personalised document developed by your practitioner. It outlines the behaviours of concern, their likely functions and triggers, and a comprehensive set of proactive and reactive strategies for carers, family, and support workers to implement. All BSPs are developed in accordance with NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirements.

Absolutely. We work closely with Support Coordinators and welcome referrals on behalf of participants. Simply complete the referral form with both the referrer’s details and the participant’s details, and our team will be in touch within 24 hours to complete onboarding.
